about

White boy is written a form quite similar to jineman Uler Kambang, a well known Javanese composition. The primary differences are the presence of the rebab (usually omitted in jineman), and the use of an odd number of beats per gong. The piece starts in the third tempo level, wilet, and transitions to the fourth tempo level, rangkep. For wilet and rangkep, the medium size drum called ciblon is used; the playing is much more intricate and for lack of a better word, groovy. The mode is pelog barang (23567 in kepatihan cipher notation).

lyrics

White boy
Back in Java
I feel tall here, goofy
Happy though, it’s a nice life
Sunburnt
